Installing the Goodworld Donate Button is simple and easy. It's important to make sure your website Content Management System (CMS) allows for you to add JavaScript to your website. If your CMS blocks some or all types of JavaScript code, you won't be able to use the Donate Button. Below is a guide to installing the Donate Button for the most popular CMS platform, WordPress.

Before you can install your Donate Button, head to your Goodworld account and create your first button. Then, copy the embed code so you have it ready to go.

Installing the Donate Button using WordPress

Please note: some WordPress plugins can affect the performance of the Donate Button or prevent it from working properly. These instructions are for a standard WordPress setup.

  1. Visit your WordPress Admin Dashboard (usually http://yoursite.com/wp-admin)
  2. Sign in with an administrator account (Editor or Author accounts will not have the necessary privileges)
  3. Every WordPress theme is a little different, to simply install your button on a Page or Post, visit that Page or Post and edit it
  4. Paste your Donate Button code into the WordPress editor under the "Text" tab. If you paste it on the "Visual" tab, it won't work
  5. Preview your edits to make sure the button shows up
  6. If everything looks great, click the "Update" button and publish the Page or Post

If you have an existing site navigation including a "Donate" option and just want to link to your Goodworld Donate Button from that existing navigation, follow these steps:

  1. Complete steps 1 and 2 above
  2. From your WordPress dashboard, click the "Appearance" tab on the left and click "Editor"
  3. On the right side you should see a "header.php" or "Theme Header" file, click that file
  4. Click the "Proceed" button to edit the header file
  5. Paste the Goodworld Donate Button JavaScript code before the closing </head> tag in that document: <script type="text/javascript" async src="https://goodworld.me/js/widget-embed.js"></script>
  6. Save the file
  7. From your WordPress dashboard, click the "Appearance" tab on the left and click "Menus"
  8. Edit your "Donate" link in your navigation menu so that the link opens your Goodworld Donate Button using this link structure: #goodworld-trigger?id=YourUniqueDonateButtonID

The Goodworld Donate Button is flexible and can be used on a variety of CMS platforms that support JavaScript. If you need help installing your button, just click the chat bubble in the lower right corner below. We usually respond within a few minutes during business hours (Eastern Time).
